  • Bachelors in Civil Engineering

Typical responsibilities will include:

Overall

  • Generate drawings according to the specifications provided by senior designers, engineers and our clients
  • Render two- and three-dimensional drawings using AutoCAD

  • Direct and manage Survey Department operations to include: preparation of all data, charts, plots, maps, records and documents related to surveys
  • Verify the accuracy of survey data including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites

  • Search legal and survey records, as well as land titles to obtain information about property boundaries in areas to be surveyed at recorders offices and other government entities
  • Write legal descriptions of property boundary surveys for use in deeds, leases, or other legal documents
  • Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain
  • Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performed
  • Compute geodetic measurements and interprets survey data to determine positions, shapes, and elevations of geomorphic and topographic features
  • Determine longitudes and latitudes of important features and boundaries in survey areas using theodolites, transits, levels and satellite-based global positioning systems
  • Execute administrative tasks: timesheets, GPS logs, mileage logs, trucks and equipment

Qualifications/Experience:

Behavior and design of steel frames by “allowable stress” and “maximum strength” based on deterministic and LRFD (Load-resistance factor design) methods.  Design of beams, columns, beam-column (biaxial loaded members), plate girders, connections, multistory frames, and bridge girders, Torsional design of steel structures.  Plastic analysis and design of steel structures.  Miscellaneous topics in structural steel construction and design.

Experience in the civil engineering field, experience in instruction, and educational level are considered for the appointment and compensation.  A master of science or a Ph.D. in engineering, or equivalent experience in industry, is required.  A.P.E. license is desirable but not required.

  • Oversees and coordinates the development of bid specs, the selection of consulting engineers; negotiates the scope of services with consultant for incorporation into contracts and agreements; oversees, coordinates and inspects the work of consultants engaged in the engineering design.  Interacts with government agencies and other regulatory bodies to secure permits, licenses and agreements and to coordinate overall engineering project execution.
  • Meets with other City departments, agencies, committees, community groups and public officials to coordinate and implement various projects and programs; organizes and serves on departmental committees and task forces.
  • Ensures the maintenance of detailed records of department activities, plans and results; including assisting engineering staff on project management and execution through input on budgets, schedules and problems resolution.
  • Administers, develops, and implements the five-year transportaion improvement plan.
  • Oversees application and administration of outside federal, state and/ or county grant funds.
  • Provides professional engineering support to departments Citywide.

JOB QUALIFICATION & KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Job Qualifications – Education, experience, and training that are required or desirable in order to effectively perform the job at the time of hire.  An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.  Additional requirements and/or substitutions may be requested and require the approval of HR.

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in Civil Engineering, Public Works, Construction, or similar work environment required.

Job Description:

ABNA is currently sseeking a Resident Engineer to join our team of professionals in our Chicago, IL Office.  The ideal candidate should possess the ability to work in a highly flexible, team-oriented environment with exceptional communication, analytical and organizational skills.

Farnsworth Group is seeking a Revit Technician – Electrical in either our St. Louis, MO or Belleville, IL office.  In this role, you will work with our Electrical Engineers to perform electrical design tasks relative to healthcare, commercial, long-term care, industrial and educational facilities.

Specific Requirements include:

  • 0-3 years of electrical CAD/Revit experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills.
  • Proficient in AutoCad Version 2020 and Revit Version 2020, as well as basic skills in Word and Excel.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience drafting for Electrical, Mechanical, and Plumbing disciplines.
  • Knowledge of MicroStation would be a plus.

  • Prepare design/quantity computations.

Summary

Performs inspection, testing, and reporting of stormwater infrastructure. Oversees grading, drainage, erosion control, water quality, and pollution prevention to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and to protect public health and safety.

Essential Job Duties

  • Provide as-built information and coordinate stormwater system inventories and the maintenance and tracking of stormwater system assets in order to keep GIS mapping updated and accurate.
  • Inspect infrastructure for compliance and perform enforcement of city ordinances, construction specifications, engineering design criteria, and storm water pollution prevention plans.
  • Review and comment on engineering plans, test reports, and as-built drawings to ensure that construction has been completed within acceptable tolerances and according to established criteria.
  • Perform plot plan review and final lot inspections.
  • Investigate stormwater concerns; recommend solutions for contractors, staff, and residents.
  • Perform activities and annual reporting for compliance with the City’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Permit and natural resource regulations.
  • Assist in the development of stormwater policies and procedures.
  • Perform and track inspections of existing public and private stormwater water quality facilities; provide education and training on maintenance for property owners of both public and privately owned facilities.
Ancillary Job Duties
  • Perform inspection of sanitary, water, and street infrastructure on new construction.
  • Perform community outreach and training activities.
  • Monitor projects and report hazardous conditions and safety concerns.
  • Respond to winter storm operations on a 24 hour call basis; plow snow and spread salt as needed to clear parking lots and streets.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications – Education, experience, and training that are required or desirable in order to effectively perform the job at the time of hire. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Additional requirements and/or substitutions may be requested and require the approval of HR.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Civil Engineering, Public Works, Construction, or a similar work environment required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Prior experience with hydrology, hydraulics, construction inspection, and native landscaping is desired.
  • Associate’s degree in Science, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field desired.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with this position.
  • Familiarity with general stormwater practices and water quality expectations.
  • Proficiency in use of basic business software (word processing, spreadsheets, email, presentations), AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Arc GIS software and basic knowledge of office equipment and machines.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task efficiently.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain focused concentration.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprint and construction plans.
  • Ability to communicate technical information in an effective, clear manner.
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential job duty.

  • May be exposed to moderate noise levels and occasional loud noises from equipment.
